Industrial engineering is concerned with the design, improvement and installation of integrated systems of people, materials, information, equipment and energy. It draws upon specialized knowledge and skill in the mathematical, physical, and social sciences together with the principles and methods of engineering analysis and design, to specify, predict, and evaluate the results to be obtained from such systems.

Teknik Industri adalah disiplin ilmu teknik yang berkaitan dengan perancangan, perbaikan dan pemasangan sistem terpadu dari manusia, material, informasi, peralatan dan energi. Disiplin ilmu ini membutuhkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan khusus dalam matematika, sains alam dan sains sosial humaniora beserta prinsip dan metode keteknikan dalam analisa dan desain, untuk menspesifikasi, memprediksi, mengevaluasi hasil yang dikeluarkan oleh sistem tertentu.

Industrial Engineering Roles:

  1. Professional staff atau expert di bidang perencanaan dan pengendalian. Menguasai keilmuan Teknik Industri dan mampu menggunakannya untuk melakukan perencanaan, pengendalian dan perbaikan proses dan sistem di skala mikro atau makro.
  2. Trainer atau educator. Menguasai keilmuan Teknik Industri dan mampu mengajarkan kepada pihak lain melalui pelatihan dan pembelajaran formal/nonformal, serta mampu mengembangkan pengetahuan dan keterampilan diri secara terus-menerus.
  3. Auditor atau assessor. Menguasai keilmuan Teknik industri dan mampu mempergunakannya untuk mengumpulkan data melalui obsevasi dan pengukuran, menginterpretasikan data melalui penilaian dan pemetaan, menganalisa data melalui evaluasi dan komparasi.
  4. Advisor atau consultant. Menguasai keilmuan Teknik industri dan mampu mempergunakannya untuk mengevaluasi dan menginterpretasikan data, serta mengusulkan rekomendasi perbaikan dan pengembangan.
  5. Analyst of system. Menguasai keilmuan Teknik Industri dan mampu menerapkannya guna meneliti dan menganalisa sistem mikro hingga makro termasuk menspesifikasikan, memprediksikan dan mengevaluasi keluaran dari sistem tersebut.
  6. Decision maker atau manager. Menguasai keilmuan Teknik Industri dan mampu mengaplikasikan dalam mendeskripsikan masalah, memodelkan struktur keputusan serta merumuskan solusi pemecahannya.

Strategy

Strategy was derived from the Greek words, stratos and ago. “Stratos” (στρατως) which means army. “Ago” (αγω) which means that I lead or carry it out. Literally, “Strategy” means a way to lead or manage an army.
Strategi tersusun dari dua kata latin, yaitu stratos dan ago. “Stratos” (στρατως) yang berarti pasukan. “Ago” (αγω) yang berarti saya pimpin atau saya laksanakan. Secara harfiah, “Strategi” berarti cara untuk memimpin atau mengatur pasukan.
